Tunnel Bénédit-Jobin

October 9, 2013 – Tunnel Bénédit-Jobin (Marseille, FR)
Tunnel Bénédit-Jobin — Jen Reimer & Max Stein

Tunnel Bénédit-Jobin is a viaduct that passes beneath the railway leading to Marseille’s central rail station, Gare Saint-Charles. The tunnel is open to traffic in both directions and has very narrow pedestrian walkway on each side.

The piece combined horn, on-site field recordings and live electronics amplified through 4 PA speakers spanning the length of the tunnel. As the performance progressed, the composition mixed with the inherent soundscape. The passing cars, bicycles and trains became instruments in the performance.
